Are you a sports coach looking for supply/long-term work within schools? Do you have experience working with 4-16 year olds with additional learning requirements and challenging behaviour?

GSL Education is currently recruiting a Sports Specialist to work at an SEN Primary-Secondary school, providing 1:1 and group support.

The role involves working 1:1 with children who have complex behavioural needs and using sports as a therapeutic method to manage challenging behaviours and support learning outside the classroom.

The role includes:

• Providing 1:1 behaviour interventions for pupils with challenging behaviour and mental health difficulties
• Supporting group activities and using sports as an enrichment activity
• Assisting the class teacher with daily tasks and planning
• Taking small groups of children out of the classroom to use sports as a learning method
• Encouraging learning and concentration in lessons
• Leading sports classes indoors and outdoors
• Supporting the teacher with planning, assessments, and marking
• Identifying triggers of specific behaviours
• Using sports as a method of de-escalating situations
• Acting as a positive role model

The ideal candidates will have:

• Experience coaching or working with children or young people with additional needs
• Experience working with challenging behaviour, autism, and social and emotional mental health
• Relevant qualifications; qualifications in multiple sports are an advantage
• DBS certificate registered to the update service
• Immediately available for long-term roles
