Job summary

S&P Dow Jones Indices is seeking a data-driven Associate Director to join the Index Investment Strategy team in London. You will own SPIVA-related analytics, improve data sourcing, validation, and delivery, and guide complex methodological questions with autonomy.

You will work with colleagues across London, Hong Kong, and New York, shaping the analytics platform for global benchmarks and delivering actionable investment insights.

Qualifications

• Typically 5–8 years of experience in a data-driven role within financial services.
• Strong hands-on Python experience applied to data workflows, including cleaning, validation, analysis, automation, and reporting.
• Experience with large, real-world financial datasets and improving data quality, reliability, and usability.
• Experience building or maintaining analytical pipelines, research toolkits, or data products used by wider teams.
• Strong analytical judgement and ability to influence buy-in through data.
• Comfortable operating with autonomy and limited day-to-day direction.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for specialist and non-specialist audiences.
• Collaborative working style across teams, functions, and geographies.
• Final-stage interview attendance in-person at a nearest S&P Global office is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, oversee, and enhance analytical processes supporting SPIVA Scorecards.
• Build, maintain, and extend scalable analytical pipelines, reporting tools, and core datasets.
• Interrogate, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources with emphasis on quality and documentation.
• Evaluate new data sources and extend SPIVA platform capabilities.
• Ensure operating model behind dataset and analytics is sustainable and globally usable.
• Conduct original research and collaborate to scope and deliver new initiatives.
• Partner with stakeholders to understand priorities and build buy-in for analytical recommendations.
• Empower colleagues through tools and frameworks and act as a subject-matter expert.
• Communicate complex ideas clearly in written materials and research outputs.
