Job summary

St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds is seeking an experienced Spiritual Care Worker to join our Family Support Team. The role is part-time, 18 hours per week minimum across 3-4 days, with Band 5 salary of £31,607–£38,010.

You will provide person-centred spiritual and pastoral care to patients, carers and staff, collaborate with other professionals, and help expand spiritual care provision in community settings, contributing to events such as Memorial Services and Light up a Life.

St Gemma’s Hospice Family Support Team is seeking an experienced and compassionate Spiritual Care Worker to join our Family Support Team.

Are you passionate about providing compassionate spiritual and pastoral care to people facing life-limiting illness and those important to them? We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Family Support Team and play a key role in shaping and expanding our spiritual care provision.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded support service and play a key role in supporting the Spiritual Care Coordinator and wider Family Support Team in delivering holistic support to patients, carers, visitors, staff and volunteers. Working collaboratively as a member of the Family Support Team, alongside social workers, bereavement practitioners and young people's service colleagues, you will support patients and those important to them through the provision of person-centred spiritual, pastoral and religious care that respects the beliefs, values and traditions of all individuals.

The role offers the opportunity to develop and strengthen our spiritual care provision, with a particular focus on expanding the spiritual care offer to patients and families in community settings. The successful candidate will work in accordance with professional standards and best practice guidance for chaplaincy and spiritual care, including NHS England chaplaincy guidance, the Association of Hospice and Palliative Care Chaplains (AHPCC) guidelines and standards, and the Council of Professional Chaplains and Pastoral Carers (CPCPC) professional standards and competencies.

You will also contribute to the planning and delivery of meaningful hospice events throughout the year, including Memorial Services, Remembrance Events and our much-valued Light up a Life programme, helping families, colleagues and communities to remember, reflect and find support.
