Job summary

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Assistant Speech and Language Therapist to join the Complex Needs SLT team. The role involves supporting our SLTs to deliver interventions across Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire in homes, clinics, nurseries and schools.

Responsibilities

  • Support SLTs to deliver a range of interventions across community venues (homes, clinics, nurseries, schools).
  • Manage own clinical diary and prioritise appointments within a supervisory framework.
  • Work across settings such as homes, clinics, nurseries and schools to support children with complex needs.
  • Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems is essential.

Job description

This role is based in our Complex Needs SLT team providing advice and support to children with complex needs and their families across Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire.

As an assistant speech and language therapist in the team you will be supporting our SLT's to deliver a range of interventions across community venues such as homes, clinics, nurseries, special and mainstream schools.

The Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service aims to maximise the potential of childrento communicate in the environments and languages in which they need to function, includingrelated impairments of eating and drinking.

This is an opportunity to join our innovative Speech and Language Therapy service at an exciting time of transformation. You will be well supported and supervised by Specialist SLT's, with many opportunities for peer support.

Working across settings such as children's homes, clinics, community venues, nurseries and schools, you will have extensive relevant experience of working with children with significant SEN and associated speech, language and communication difficulties. Some experience of working with children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems (High and Low Tech) is essential.

You will have a relevant qualification at equivalent level of NVQ Level 3 and be able to demonstrate an ability to work flexibly, motivate others, show initiative, and work as part of a team under the direction of a Speech & Language Therapist. You should have a working knowledge of safeguarding children.

You will be responsible for managing your own clinical diary, so strong organisation and prioritisation skills are needed.

You will be working within a supportive team that are committed to your personal development through appraisal and clinical supervision. You will have support and CPD opportunities across the Children's Speech & Language Therapy service.
