Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Adult Community Integrated Team, with a mixed caseload across inpatient and community settings for adults with intellectual disability and related needs.

You will provide specialist assessment, formulation and diagnosis, delivering therapy and management programmes, and supporting MDT colleagues.

Job description

We are excited to offer an opportunity to join the SLT service within Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. We work with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disability in inpatient and community services. We are seeking a full time (permanent) Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Adult Community Integrated Team with a mixed communication and Dysphagia caseload.

The SLT services support a variety of speech, language and communication and/or dysphagia needs, covering community and specialist settings across the city and county for adults with physical, mental health needs or developmental conditions/delay including Intellectual Disability and Developmental Language Disorder.

The SLT services also include preventative information and guidance, working to empower parents, carers, other professionals and agencies to support speech, language and communication skills as well as eating and drinking.

You will be well supported by senior colleagues, with opportunities for peer support, supervision, and CPD.

The role involves close work with colleagues from a range of disciplines and you will be contributing to a multi-disciplinary service supporting adults with intellectual disabilities in settings across Nottingham City and/or North Nottinghamshire.

Your role will be to support the person to live well with their mental health, communication and eating/ drinking needs.

The post holder is responsible for providing specialist SLT assessment, formulation and diagnosis, requiring advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and interpretation and analysis, and subsequent therapy/management programmes within the designated specialism/setting/district.

The post holder may also support senior colleagues around strategic developments within their specialism/setting/district in liaison with their line manager. They will also support senior colleagues in the development and delivery of training and professional mentorship in their specialism/setting/district.
