Job summary

Shaftesbury is seeking an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join Nash College as Therapy and Wellbeing Team Lead. You will deliver speech and language assessments and interventions, and lead the local therapy and wellbeing team, including nurses, therapists and assistants.

The role focuses on maintaining high clinical standards, fostering safety and quality, and supporting student independence. Sponsorship may be considered in line with guidance.

Qualifications

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• RCSLT membership.
• Experience working with young people with SEND and range of conditions.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting other staff.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, clinical governance, and maintaining professional standards.
• Strong communication, organisational and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver speech and language therapy assessments and interventions for students with SEND.
• Lead, provide clinical supervision, guidance and support to the local therapy and wellbeing team including nurses, therapists and assistants.
• Use evidence-informed approaches and adapt interventions to the student’s cognitive ability, sensory needs, behavioural presentation, and communication style.
• Support the use of AAC, visual supports, and all appropriate communication strategies.
• Work collaboratively with education staff, families and external agencies to promote student participation and achievement of goals.
• Support local governance activities, including audits, quality improvement and service development initiatives.
• Be part of Nash College Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the ongoing development of provision and integrated working.
• The postholder will spend approximately 70% of time on clinical duties and 30% on leadership and service development.
