Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join the Liaison and Diversion team. The post focuses on assessing and supporting speech, language and communication needs in police custody, courts and related settings.

You will work across Hampshire & IOW, attend custody suites and magistrates’ courts, and provide expert SLT input, training and written reports to inform disposal decisions.

Qualifications

• Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree.
• HCPC licence to practise.
• Registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
• Significant experience at Band 5 or equivalent in a community setting.
• Driving licence and access to own vehicle, able to travel across Hampshire/IOW.

Responsabilités

• Support the delivery of the Speech and Language pathway within the Liaison and Diversion agenda.
• Provide expert advice to SLTs, senior clinicians and MDT across Hampshire & IOW; supply police/court with written information.
• Attend police stations, custody suites, community settings and courts; perform specialist assessments and identify care pathways.
• Work with referring agencies in custody, court and probation; act as a single health contact point.
• Deliver specialist training on Speech and Language needs within Criminal Justice pathways to custody sergeants, magistrates and crown court.
• Manage own time and workload autonomously.
