Job summary

NHS Scotland is inviting applications for a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist within the Children & Young People’s SLT team in South Ayrshire, based at Coylton Health Centre. The post is permanent and full-time, offering 36 hours per week with flexible patterns where appropriate.

You will commence at entry level with progression to Band 6 after two years, subject to completing Flying Start and RCSLT Competency Frameworks. A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

  • Provide supervision and day-to-day support to SLT staff.
  • Engage in service development and personal development activities.

Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist within our Children & Young People’s Speech & Language Therapy team here in South Ayrshire, based at Coylton Health Centre. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

The post holder will commence at entry level, with the opportunity to progress to Band 6 after two years in post, provided that Flying Start and the RCSLT Competency Frameworks have been successfully completed to the required standard.
Hours

This post will be 36 hours per week. We do provide flexible working patterns where appropriate. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

UK Driving Licence

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What You Will Do
  • Partnership working with children and young people and their families with a wide range of communication difficulties in a variety of settings
  • Autonomously managing a caseload
  • Delivery of universal, targeted and specialist interventions
  • Developing and delivering training to families and education practitioners
  • Providing supervision and day to day support to Speech & Language Therapy associate practitioner staff members
  • Engagement in non-clinical activities relating to service development and personal development
Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
  • Health and Care Professionals Council Licence to Practice
  • Excellent social and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work constructively with a range of people including parents/carers
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, supportive and approachable
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Hold a current UK driving licence
  • Ability to use a range of technology and digital tools to support clinical and administrative work
  • Excellent presentation (written and verbal) skills
