Job summary

East SILC in Leeds is seeking a qualified Speech and Language Therapist for maternity cover starting September 2026. You will work across multiple sites, delivering assessment, intervention, and advice to learners aged 3-19 with complex needs in a school-based setting.

You’ll collaborate with teachers, families and external professionals to embed best communication practice, contribute to EHCP targets, and support inclusive education across a dynamic specialist setting.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist with relevant qualifications.
• Experience working with children and young people with SEND.
• Reflective, flexible practitioner who enjoys teamwork.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to learner-centred, inclusive practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment and intervention for learners with speech, language and communication needs.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to embed communication strategies in the curriculum.

The East SILC is a complex organisation which operates on a variety of sites to provide a range of outreach services across the city, including partnerships with primary and secondary providers, the city‑wide Physical Difficulties and Medical Service including a moving and handling service, as well as the Medical Needs Teaching Service for Leeds.

The role will require attending different sites within the East SILC . Newly qualified therapists with experience of working in Education and/or SEND will be considered

The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality assessment, intervention, and advice for learners with communication needs aged 3-19.

You will work directly within classrooms alongside teachers, support staff, families, and external professionals to promote meaningful communication development and ensure learners can fully engage in learning and school life.
