The job role is for a Speech and Language Therapist with mental health experience, working at Thornford Park Hospital in Thatcham, Berkshire. The Speech and Language Therapist will lead group therapy sessions, build rapport with service users, and encourage engagement and recovery. They will have experience in managing a caseload, completing assessments, planning and implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes. The therapist will also contribute to audits and research within the service.

Where you will be working
You will work at Thornford Park which is a combination of medium secure and low secure units and rehabilitation flats. The service provides a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering patients in their recovery and rehabilitation.
You will work alongside the multidisciplinary to provide personalised assessment and treatment programmes for males with mental illness/ complex care needs as well as those with personality disorder. Service users may have histories of offending and/or may have failed in previous placements.
You will lead group therapeutic group sessions, helping people develop and improve their speech and communication. Building one-to-one rapport with service users, you will encourage engagement and empower recovery. You will have experience in managing a designated caseload using theoretical and practical experience, completing assessments, planning, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans.
With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you’ll receive support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a variety of training courses to support you reach your career goals
