We are looking to recruit a part time band 5 speech and language therapist to work across our stroke service. This post would be suitable for a newly qualified clinician or someone with previous band 5 experience looking to work with an adult caseload. This is a fixed term post for 9 months to cover a maternity leave.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated speech and language therapist who is eager to learn as well as bring a fresh perspective to the service. You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. You will be expected to work independently but to seek professional support and supervision from senior colleagues where necessary.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will be a member of a team of therapists working across the inpatient stroke pathway in Buckinghamshire. They will work alongside senior therapists and have access to support.
- To manage a defined caseload and work with an agreed degree of autonomy and independence, with regular support/supervision from the speech and language therapy team.
- To identify, assess and make a differential diagnosis of communication and swallowing impairments and select appropriate patients and type of therapy for effective treatment.
- To develop clinical skills and professional knowledge through experience, training and supervision and to work towards developing competencies in agreed areas of patient management.
- To take part in the supervision of students with support.
- To take part in supervision of the work of SLT assistants and volunteers when required.
- To take part in the development and delivery of training to others

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
- Accredited Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
- Health Professions Council Licence to Practice
- Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
EXPERIENCE
- Experience with an adult caseload and dysphagia management
- Varied clinical placements in Adult SLT departments
- Previous Band 5 speech and language therapy role in adults or paediatrics
