Job summary

Liaise is seeking a compassionate Speech and Language Therapist to join our Specialist Support Team in Greater London. You will manage your own caseload of adults with learning disabilities and complex needs, delivering evidence-based assessment and therapy to improve communication and swallow function.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, train colleagues, maintain records and contribute to service development, audits and quality improvement, with CPD and career progression

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and HCPC registration.
• Experience with adults with learning disabilities or autism.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload of adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
• Assess, diagnose and treat communication and swallowing (dysphagia) difficulties.
• Develop person-centred therapy plans and dysphagia management plans.
• Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to individual needs.
• Train and coach support teams to implement communication strategies and safe dysphagia practices.
• Promote inclusive communication using AAC, Makaton, symbols and other methods.
• Collaborate with families, GPs, social workers and external professionals.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and outcome measures.
• Contribute to service development, audits and quality improvement.
• Support development of colleagues by providing specialist advice and training.

We're looking for a compassionate and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our Specialist Support Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team, delivering person-centred, evidence-based interventions that enhance communication, promote independence, and improve the health, wellbeing and quality of life of the individuals we support.

Role Summary

• Manage your own caseload of adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
• Assess, diagnose and treat communication and swallowing (dysphagia) difficulties.
• Develop person-centred therapy plans, communication profiles and dysphagia management plans.
• Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to individual needs.
• Train and coach support teams to implement communication strategies and safe dysphagia practices.
• Promote inclusive communication using AAC, Makaton, symbols and other communication methods where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with families, support staff, GPs, social workers and external professionals.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and outcome measures.
• Contribute to service development, audits and continuous quality improvement.
• Support the development of colleagues by providing specialist advice and training.

What we are looking for

Essential

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
• HCPC registration.
• Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Experience working with adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.
• Experience assessing and managing communication needs and dysphagia.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

• Experience using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
• Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
• Experience delivering training to colleagues and support teams.
• Experience contributing to service development or clinical audits.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between services.
