Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band speech and language therapist to join the team of therapists in the South of the County. This is a new post which has recently become available and would suit either a newly qualified therapist interested in working with adults or an experienced band therapist looking to develop their skills further, seeing patients in the community setting.

Work will involve assessing and providing therapy/support for patients with communication and swallowing difficulties. The post holder will receive regular supervision, work towards the newly qualified practitioner competencies (if applicable), and have access to the Trust's preceptorship programme. The team holds regular meetings locally and countywide, with access to weekly clinical supervision sessions for support.

There may be opportunities to gain certification in the LSVT programme and deliver this evidence-based therapy to relevant patients. Additionally, there will be chances to shadow therapists in specialist pathways such as stroke and voice, with support from senior therapists.

Responsibilities

• Providing speech and language therapy to patients on outpatient, domiciliary, and community hospital wards.
• Working independently with patients with communication impairments and dysphagia, including some voice work.
• Traveling independently around the county, meeting strict deadlines, holding a full UK driving license, and having access to a vehicle.
