Are you a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)? Axcis Education is working with an infant school in Brislington, Bristol, to recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with speech and language difficulties. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with younger children during an important stage of their development, helping them build their communication skills, confidence and independence while accessing the curriculum.

About the Role

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with speech and language needs
• Help children develop their communication, vocabulary and social interaction skills
• Support pupils to engage with classroom learning and activities
• Use appropriate strategies to encourage communication and participation
• Build positive and trusting relationships with young children
• Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider school team
• Help create a nurturing, inclusive and language-rich learning environment
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning

The Ideal Candidate

• Has experience supporting children with speech, language or communication difficulties (desirable but not essential)
• Ideally has experience working within an Early Years or Key Stage 1 setting
• Is patient, nurturing and able to communicate effectively with young children
• Can adapt their approach to meet individual children's needs
• Has strong teamwork and communication skills
• Is passionate about supporting children's early development and inclusion
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
