Job summary

WSP is seeking a Development Infrastructure design engineer to deliver highway and drainage projects, mentor junior staff and provide planning support across public and private sector clients. You will report to an Associate Director and contribute to masterplanning and construction drawings.

Qualifications

  • A civil engineering degree and pursuit of Chartered status with experience in highway and highway drainage design.
  • Post-graduate experience in a civil engineering working environment.
  • Experience producing masterplans, site appraisals, drafting reports to support planning applications, design calculations and construction drawings.
  • Knowledge and ability to deliver highway design, highway drainage principles (layout, parameters, etc.), surface water and foul drainage designs.
  • Experience with Windes drainage software and PDS or Civils 3D modelling software, and applying Highways England and Local Authority design guidance.
  • Effective teamwork with senior and junior staff in producing designs, drawings and reports.
  • Knowledge of relevant design codes such as DMRB, Local Authority Highway and Water Authority Design Guides, and preparation of drawings for S38 and S278 Highway Agreements as well as S106 Drainage Agreements.
  • A consultancy or development background with a balance of private and public sector work.
  • Proven experience and interest in helping junior members of the team in producing designs.

A Little More About Your Role

The Development Infrastructure department specialises in providing high level advice and design to public and private sector clients on planning and design issues relating to Highways, Drainage, Flood Protection, Earthworks and Service Co-ordination on Public Sector works, Residential Developments, Business Parks, Retail, Industrial and Commercial Developments.
