Job summary

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is recruiting for a middle grade paediatric post to provide cover across the general paediatric service, PAU and related outpatient clinics under consultant supervision. The role offers development opportunities and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The post involves ward rounds, A&E liaison, safeguarding examinations, teaching and participation in audits, with a 1:8 rolling rota alongside existing specialty doctors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily ward rounds in the Children's Ward, RGH and report to the consultant in charge.
• Participate in PAU cover.
• Supervision to Junior medical team and acts as a source of advice to the nursing staff.
• See Patients in A+E at the request of paediatrics junior doctors and consultants.
• Carry out safeguarding medical examinations when adequately trained.
• Attend specialist clinics as per area of interest.
• See new and follow up General Paediatric patients in the clinics under supervision of consultant.
• Participate in clinical/medical audit, teaching and research within the children's service.
• Managing the acute paediatric intake at PCH with junior and consultant support.

Job description

This post is a replacement of existing post but with diverse roles and developmental opportunities to suit applicant's interests. This post provides middle grade cover to the general paediatric, PAU at RGH and to the out patient clinics under supervision of the consultants; and complements the existing middle grade posts in the department.
