Job summary

The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Paediatrics Registrar to cover the Paediatrics ward (C2), Neonatal unit (NNU), and Paediatrics assessment unit (PAU) as allocated by rota. The post includes out-of-hours long days and night shifts with Consultant supervision.

The role involves ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and ED admissions under supervision. You will work as part of the Paediatrics, Neonates and PAU on-call rota, providing high quality care and contributing to service

Qualifications

• GMC registration with a licence to practise at time of appointment.
• Medical degree from a recognised university.
• MRCPCH(UK) or recognised equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Paediatrics, Neonates and PAU on-call rota as per the post.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and improve the service and maintain a respectful, supportive workplace.
• Undertake duties on the ward and in outpatient clinics.
• Adequately assess patients' conditions, considering history, and multidisciplinary factors.
• Perform physical examination when necessary and provide or arrange treatment.
• Prescribe drugs or treatment only when clinically appropriate and safe.

Job description

The normal working day consists of covering the Paediatrics ward (C2) , Neonatal unit

(NNU) or the Paediatrics assessment unit (PAU) as per rota allocation as a level 2 doctor (Registrar level). You will also be doing out-of-hours including long days and night shifts as per rota schedules. During out of hours, you will be carrying the Tier 2 crash bleeps and attend any emergencies.

Providing resident doctors cover for the HDU

Running independent outpatient clinics and ward rounds with Consultant supervision

Undertaking rounds in wards and neonatal unit

Admitting emergencies and booked cases and undertaking routine ward duties

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to participate in the Paediatrics, Neonates and PAU on-call rota and will be paid accordingly.

Working collaboratively with colleagues to further develop and improve the service and create a culture that is respectful, fair, supportive, and compassionate by role modelling behaviours.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise at time of appointment
• Medical Degree from a recognised university
• MRCPCH(UK) or recognised equivalent qualification

Experience

• Shall have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty
• Shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
