Job summary

Cygnet Delfryn Lodge is seeking an experienced Specialty Doctor to join the female mental health rehabilitation service, providing psychiatric care under Consultant supervision across Delfryn Lodge and Rhyd Alyn.

This full-time post offers a portfolio pathway toward Consultant level, with an MDT and MRCPsych progression support. A comprehensive benefits package includes annual leave, study leave and a pension scheme.

Qualifications

  • Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified.
  • Experienced & knowledgeable in general adult / rehabilitation psychiatry.
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity.
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes.
  • Committed to continued professional development.
  • A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine medical and psychiatric care for inpatients and assess new admissions.
  • Carry out assessments, investigations, diagnosis and treatment under Consultant supervision.
  • Maintain communication with ward staff, other mental health professionals and agencies.
  • Participate in weekly ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings including CPA, Tribunal hearings & Section 117 meetings.
  • Maintain full medical records and discharge summaries.
  • Attend mandatory training (BLS, ILS, PMVA, Moving and Transferring, Infection Control, H&S).
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff and regulators; maintain reports.
  • Contribute to on-call rota as region requires.

We are seeking an experienced full-time Specialty Doctor who will work at Delfryn Lodge and Rhyd Alyn and provide psychiatric care within our mental health rehabilitation service for women and community rehabilitation service for women.

You will be fully involved as a practising psychiatrist - while being fully supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and first-class multidisciplinary team.

Cygnet Delfryn Lodge has 24 beds and provides a flexible mental health rehabilitation service for women, including High-Support Inpatient Rehabilitation (Level 2) and Community / Open Rehabilitation (Level 1). This dual-level rehabilitation model ensures that women receive the support they need while developing independence at their own pace.

Rhyd Alyn is a six bed community rehabilitation (level 1) service for women who have been able to progress through the hospital pathway at Cygnet Delfryn Lodge. We also accept referrals from other high dependency inpatient rehabilitation services as well as directly from the community.

This is a rotational role on an annual basis and will include working within our two new wards at Delfryn House. This is a female low secure service with two wards - Awen (PD) and Elyn (MI).

  • Main duties and Responsibilities...
  • Provide routine medical and psychiatric support including initial clerking and mental state examination of newly admitted patients
  • Carry out the assessment, appropriate investigation, diagnosis and treatment under Consultant supervision of inpatients of the unit.
  • Maintain good communication with ward nursing staff, mental health professionals and other agencies as required
  • Participate in weekly ward rounds and other multidisciplinary meetings, including CPA, Tribunal hearings & Section 117 meetings
  • Maintenance of full records of medical and psychiatric assessments and interventions
  • Preparing discharge summaries in line with company policies and guidelines
  • Attending all mandatory training e.g. BLS, ILS, Breakaway training/PMVA training, Moving and Transferring, Infection Control, H&S.
  • Communicating effectively through regular contact with patients, relatives, staff, directors, and any other concerned bodies; maintaining appropriate reports.
  • Participating in the duty doctor on call rota depending on the needs of the region

Our Portfolio Pathway programme

This programme will help you develop the skills you need to progress to Consultant level - and you'll rotate within wards/services to gain valuable experience across various subspecialties.

You'll also have an educational supervisor to review your progress and oversee your development - and you'll receive support with MRCPsych exams.
