Swansea Bay University Health Board is seeking a Speciality Doctor for a fixed-term position in Specialist Palliative Care. The role involves being a core member of the multi-disciplinary team and providing care consultations in both community and hospital settings. Ideal candidates will have a strong medical background and prior experience in palliative care, offering a chance to contribute significantly to patient care.

We are delighted to offer a Speciality Doctor to join our friendly, ambitious and expanding department which provides a Specialist Palliative Care Service. This is a fixed term post to commence as soon as possible. This is a 10 session Job plan which is inclusive of 1:6 on call.
The department covers all aspects of Specialist Palliative Care (Specialist inpatient/hospice, community and hospital liaison work) provided by a multi-disciplinary team across the Swansea and Neath localities.
We would invite candidates from all medical, general practice and surgical backgrounds as we believe that all experience is valuable to Specialist Palliative Care. Previous Speciality Doctors in the department have gone on to higher training in Specialist Palliative Care, have been supported through CESAR applications or have continued to thrive as well valued-Speciality Doctors within the department.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to:
To provide Palliative Medicine consultations as part of the Community Palliative care advisory team, under consultant supervision or as part of the Hospital Palliative care team under consultant supervision.
Provide middle grade non-residential on call cover in association with other colleagues to support health care professionals in any setting and 7/7 CNS working.
Have direct responsibility for patients in the specialist inpatient unit- Ty olwen (first on call) out of hours. On call is supported by hospital at night from Morriston after 10pm and remote/electronic prescribing.
