Job description

The opportunity

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Specialist Technician to play a key role in fostering student learning on the Interior Futures courses at Camberwell and Chelsea Colleges of Arts.

The Interior Futures Technical Team is a close-knit group of designers, architects and makers who have a wide range of specialist skillsets and backgrounds. We work together to support each other and provide students with the tools to create and communicate a high standard of work that reflects the quality of a UAL education.

As a Specialist Technician (Learning & Teaching): Digital Design, you will be directly enriching students’ learning, by teaching cohorts how to use specialist software. To achieve this, you will deliver formal teaching sessions, troubleshoot specific issues, and give critical and constructive feedback to enable students to produce strong final outcomes.

Working across both Camberwell and Chelsea Colleges, you will gain a broad and varied experience of the teams and cultures within CCW. Moving around the different course areas means you are rarely sat in the same office and no one day looks the same. Whilst there will be a schedule arranged by the Studio Manager for you to follow, there is a certain amount of autonomy within the role and you will be able to self-direct much of your time and space management.

About You

You will need a degree level qualification (or equivalent) in an area such as Interior Design, Architecture or Digital Design.

You will possess strong technical knowledge of Adobe CC and 2D and 3D drawing software such as AutoCAD, Sketch Up Pro and Rhino. Drawing on these skills, you will use these programmes to create strong visual outcomes that will help students to effectively visualise their research and support their portfolios.

Additionally, you will need to have a good understanding of Graphic Design in relation to Interior Design and Architectural practices and how software can be utilised to produce rich visuals, strong brand identity and high-quality professional portfolios.
