Job summary

Morgan Hunt UK Limited is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician for an FE college in Worthing on a long-term temporary basis. You will support practical sessions, prepare workshops, and ensure machinery is serviced and ready for use.

The role requires hands-on experience with mills, lathes and hand tools, with a focus on health and safety in a busy workshop environment. Immediate start is available.

Qualifications

• Strong practical workshop experience with machinery such as mills, lathes and hand tools.
• Experience in maintenance, estates or similar backgrounds considered.
• Understanding of workshop health and safety and machinery maintenance.
• Hands-on, reliable and confident in a busy workshop.

Responsibilities

• Support practical Mechanical Engineering sessions by preparing workshops, materials and equipment.
• Maintain and service workshop machinery, including mills, lathes and hand tools.
• Ensure safe running of the workshop with health and safety checks.
• Keep equipment ready for use in day-to-day teaching.

About the Role

• A fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join an FE College in Worthing on a long-term temporary basis
• Supporting practical Mechanical Engineering sessions across the department, helping to prepare workshops, materials and equipment for teaching
• Maintaining and servicing workshop machinery, including mills, lathes, hand tools and general workshop equipment
• Supporting the safe and effective running of the workshop, including health and safety checks and ensuring equipment is ready to use

What we are looking for

• Strong practical workshop experience with machinery such as mills, lathes and hand tools
• Engineering experience would be ideal, but candidates from maintenance, estates or similar practical backgrounds will also be considered
• Good understanding of workshop health and safety, machinery maintenance and general engineering practices
• Someone hands-on, reliable and confident working in a busy practical workshop environment
