Job summary

Royal College of Art in London (Battersea Campus) invites applications for a Specialist Technical Instructor in Physical Computing. This 7-month fixed-term contract (Sep '26 - Mar '27) is part-time (0.4 FTE) and involves hands-on instruction and equipment setup within the technical support team.

You will engage in teaching, problem solving, and safety maintenance of equipment, with emphasis on Python/Processing/C++ coding, Arduino/Raspberry Pi hardware, and web technologies.

Qualifications

• Significant, highly skilled, specialist knowledge of physical computing and associated coding and programming processes including; fluency in one or more established coding language (Python, Processing, C++)
• Significant knowledge and experience of at least one web based language: Javascript, PHP, HTML, CSS.
• Significant knowledge and experience of one or more of the following processes; Arduino, Raspberry Pi and soldering & micro-electronics.

Location: London - Battersea Campus

We are looking for an experienced, adaptable, dynamic, highly motivated and outcome focused person to work with our technical support team at the Royal College of Art.
