Job summary

East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Behaviour Support Team (BST) is seeking experienced teachers to promote inclusion for children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs within school settings across the East Riding.

You will deliver evidence-based training, provide interventions to staff, and work with parents/carers to achieve positive outcomes. You will manage your diary and work independently most of the time under term-time commitments.

Qualifications

• Must have successful experience in supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in mainstream settings.
• Outstanding personal and professional skills enabling collaboration and confidence-raising with school staff.
• Ability to manage conversations across multiple disciplines (SENCos, DSLs, parents, and school leadership).

Then why not join us in the Behaviour Support Team (BST) in East Riding. We are a well-established and forward-looking team of specialist teachers and support practitioners who sit within the Inclusion arm of Children, Families and Schools. The Behaviour Support Team work to promote the inclusion of children and young people with social and emotional learning difficulties, and behaviour that challenges in school settings across East Riding. This is achieved through providing support, advice, interventions, training and much more around the needs of children and young people, (individually or in groups) to school based staff, working in partnership with parents/carers.

The Behaviour Support Team delivers a wide range of research and evidence-based training to education settings to support with successful social and emotional learning outcomes. We also contribute towards various events across the local authority including those for SENCos, DSLs and Senior Mental Health leads. You will bring an engaging and confident style of delivery to the role.

The service is available to all maintained primary schools, and academies and secondary schools with a service level agreement (SLA). Specialist teachers link to schools within a designated area of the county, which may be varied according to the changing needs of the service over time. You will work as part of a growing team of peripatetic teachers and intensive support practitioners. You will manage your own diary and work independently most of the time.

We are looking for experienced and talented teachers with a good understanding of the social, emotional and behavioural development and needs of children and young people. You will have successful experience in supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in mainstream settings. You will demonstrate outstanding personal / professional skills which enable and empower mainstream school staff and promote collaborative working by sharing skills and knowledge, inspiring confidence and high aspirations for achieving positive outcomes for all children and young people. The ability to manage challenging conversations over multi-disciplines is essential to the role.

The post is offered under teacher’s pay and conditions, therefore East Riding term-time commitments and holidays will apply.
