Job summary

Falmouth University seeks a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker to provide learning support and tailored guidance. You will create individual learning plans, help students become independent and support organisation and time management.

This role focuses on developing research and reading/writing strategies, assisting with references, and managing a caseload. Benefits include PAYE contract, weekly payments, CPD access, and pension.

Qualifications

• Support students to develop independence and learning strategies.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Punctuality, reliability and good organisational skills.
• Experience of working with autistic clients is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one study skills support and guidance to students.
• Create individual learning plans tailored to each student’s needs.
• Support development of research, reading and writing skills and referencing strategies.
• Help students become independent learners and manage time effectively.
• Attend support worker meetings and CPD opportunities.

Job description

As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide learning support and academic guidance. This includes creating an individual learning plan that has been tailored to the student's needs and encourages them to become an independent learner. As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, you are required to support students to:

• Develop independence
• Build on strengths and learning strategies
• Create strategies around organisation and time management
• Create action plans to stay on track with studies
• Build on research skills - widening knowledge by using a variety of sources
• Distinguish appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
• Build on comprehension skills within reading and writing
• Experience of working with autistic clients
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
• Punctuality and reliability
• Good organisational skills
• Ability to manage a caseload of students
• £28 per hour plus accrued holiday pay at £3.38 per hour, £28 per hour plus accrued holiday pay at £3.38 per hour
