Job summary

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (0.8 WTE) to support adults with communication and/or swallowing difficulties in Knowsley and St Helens. You will work within a well-established team across community settings, clinics, homes and mental health wards to deliver high quality, person-centred care.

The post offers professional development opportunities, regular supervision, and involvement in service improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

Registration with HCPC as a Speech and Language Therapist.
Band 6 experience or equivalent is desirable.
Experience with adult dysphagia and communication disorders.

Responsibilities

Manage an independent caseload of adults with communication and swallowing disorders.
Undertake specialist dysphagia assessments and implement evidence-based management plans.
Provide assessment and intervention in community settings (homes, clinics, care homes, wards).
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies to deliver patient-centred care.
Assist with waiting list management and service prioritisation.
Provide training and support to carers, support staff and healthcare professionals.
Support service development, audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Supervise SLT assistants and students as required.
