Job summary

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the Intensive Support Team. The role involves specialist assessment, intervention and consultation for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, with focus on complex communication and dysphagia needs.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, providing person-centered care and contributing to admission prevention, safe care planning and discharge pathways.

Qualifications

• Experience working with adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.
• Confidence in assessing and supporting individuals with complex communication needs.
• Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passionate about person-centred care and improving service user outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist SLT assessment, diagnosis and intervention for adults with learning disability and dysphagia needs.
• Independently manage a specialist caseload within the IST.
• Provide defined SLT input to The Hollies LD Assessment and Treatment Service, supporting care planning and discharge planning.
• Use Total Communication approaches and AAC where appropriate.
• Undertake dysphagia assessment and intervention following professional governance requirements.
• Contribute to MDT assessment, risk review and discharge planning.
• Provide timely specialist advice to colleagues, carers and families.
