A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join their Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce. This role involves assessing young people's communication abilities, managing caseloads, and providing training to staff across various sectors. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of effective strategies to support vulnerable pupils and engage in a multidisciplinary approach to care.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of a newly developed Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce. The team includes mental health professionals, educationalists, speech and language therapists, family workers, and other specialists dedicated to providing intensive support to prevent vulnerable pupils from disengaging from education and being vulnerable to child criminal exploitation.
This pilot taskforce aims to support a targeted group of young people and influence future provision strategies by the Local Authority. The role will be supported by Speech and Language Therapists within the core team and colleagues within the Specialist Taskforce.
We employ over 6,500 staff delivering compassionate care across hospitals, community sites, health centres, and patients' homes, supported by nearly 150 volunteers. Our services include urgent and emergency care, medical, surgical, maternity, gynaecology, critical care, children’s and young people’s services, and outpatient diagnostics. To act as a specialist clinician supporting the Calderdale Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce, engaging with young people, assessing their communication abilities, and providing training to the wider workforce. You will audit and foster a communication-friendly environment within the alternative provision and support parents and carers regarding speech, language, and communication needs.
Responsibilities include managing your own caseload, conducting specialist assessments and treatments, developing individualised care plans, and facilitating transitions back into educational settings. You will also provide training and advice to staff across social care, education, and health sectors, supporting the wider multidisciplinary team.
