Job summary

Active Care Group's Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, part of Active Neuro, is seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team on a 22.5 hour per week fixed-term basis.

You will manage a clinical caseload of adults with complex communication and swallowing needs, deliver assessments and individualized treatment plans, and work with patients, families and colleagues to maximize independence.

Qualifications

  • Must hold HCPC registration and have experience with adults with neurological conditions.
  • Experience in assessing and treating communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
  • Understanding of evidence-based neurorehabilitation approaches.
  • Ability to manage a clinical caseload with a degree of autonomy.
  • Strong communication and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a clinical caseload of patients with complex communication and swallowing needs.
  • Complete specialist assessments and develop individualised treatment plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based SLT interventions to support rehabilitation goals.
  • Support MDT care planning, reviews, and goal setting.
  • Provide specialist advice and training to colleagues, families and carers.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and participate in audits.

Job description

Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre has recently joined Active Neuro, the specialist neurological rehabilitation division of Active Care Group, and we are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our well-established multidisciplinary team on a part-time, fixed-term basis. Our 52-bed Level 1 and Level 2 inpatient rehabilitation service provides specialist treatment and care for adults with complex physical and cognitive impairments, challenging behaviours and neuropsychiatric disorders resulting from brain injury. This is a 22.5 hour per week, 12-month fixed-term role, offering an excellent opportunity to develop your specialist skills within a dedicated neurorehabilitation setting. You will manage a clinical caseload, providing assessment and intervention for patients with complex communication, cognitive-communication and swallowing difficulties, while working closely with the wider MDT to support meaningful rehabilitation goals and positive outcomes. You will work collaboratively with patients, families and colleagues, providing specialist advice and guidance and ensuring Speech and Language Therapy is an integral part of each individual's rehabilitation journey. The role:
  • Managing and prioritising a clinical caseload of patients with complex communication and/or swallowing needs.
  • Completing specialist assessments and developing individualised treatment programmes.
  • Delivering evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy interventions.
  • Supporting patients to achieve meaningful rehabilitation goals and maximise their independence.
  • Contributing to multidisciplinary assessment, goal setting, care planning and reviews.
  • Providing specialist advice and training to colleagues, families and carers where appropriate.
  • Supporting the assessment and management of dysphagia.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records.
  • Contributing to clinical audit, service development and quality improvement.
  • Supporting students and junior colleagues where appropriate.
  • Working in accordance with professional standards, policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the people we support.
About you:
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Experience working with adults with neurological conditions.
  • Experience of assessing and treating communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
  • A good understanding of evidence-based approaches to neurorehabilitation.
  • Experience managing a clinical caseload and working with a degree of professional autonomy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary working.
  • A commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS.
