At Active Neuro, we’re transforming neurorehabilitation in the UK — and we’re looking for an exceptional Band 7 Lead Speech and Language Therapist to help drive that change.

Based at Hunters Moor in Birmingham, you’ll take a leading role in a collaborative, highly specialist team dedicated to helping people rebuild their communication, swallowing, and cognitive-communication skills following brain injury or neurological illness.

This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to lead, influence and innovate in an environment where every interaction matters, your expertise shapes service delivery, and you directly impact patient outcomes.

  • A 24/7 therapeutic approach, ensuring every moment supports recovery

Our patients include individuals with acquired and traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and complex neurological conditions. We deliver seamless rehabilitation journeys — from pre-admission planning to inpatient treatment, through to supported community reintegration.

As Lead SLT, you’ll play a vital part in shaping our SLT service, mentoring colleagues, driving innovation in practice, and ensuring excellence across all areas of care.

  • Lead on the development and delivery of evidence-based therapy programmes, working collaboratively with the wider MDT to achieve the best outcomes for patients

  • Independently plan, deliver and evaluate communication therapy groups, ensuring practice is innovative and patient-centred

  • Uphold and model the highest standards of clinical care, ensuring practice reflects current national guidance and best practice

  • Take responsibility as Key Worker where appropriate, driving joined-up goal-setting, therapy planning and discharge coordination

  • Provide professional leadership, supervision and mentorship to junior SLTs and assistants, supporting their clinical development in line with ACG policy

  • Take an active role in the induction, education and training of interdisciplinary team members

  • Ensure compliance with professional codes of practice, governance frameworks and regulatory requirements

  • Contribute to service development, policy implementation and quality improvement initiatives within SLT and across the wider therapy service

  • Take responsibility for safeguarding within your practice — ensuring people are protected from harm, empowered to have a voice, and that their human rights are always upheld

About you:

For this role, you will need:

  • HCPC registration
  • Previous experience of working in a neurorehabilitation setting and in dysphagia assessment and management
