Specialist Speech and language Therapist (Band 6) in Head & Neck/Oncology 1.6 WTE permanent

An exciting opportunity to join the SLT Head & Neck/Oncology team in NHS Lothian, providing a specialist service across 2 sites-St John’s Hospital in Livingston and the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. There are 2 posts available: one full-time and one part-time 6 sessions. As part of a small SLT team and wider MDT, to provide a full comprehensive specialist service of assessment, diagnosis, treatment/appropriate management, onward referral and discharge to a complex range of patients referred to the service.

To supervise junior SLTs, clinical support workers, assistant practitioners and SLT students. To develop and deliver training programmes for a wide range of professionals and carers, to educate carers and significant others in the understanding of both the therapy process and any intervention relating to the management of patients medical and social needs.

A qualified SLT with relevant clinical experience in adult acquired communication and swallowing disorders, the successful applicants will have evidence of motivation to work in this specialist area and a commitment to CPD A SLT degree qualification or equivalent and HCPC registration are essential for this post Evidence of significant post registration professional practice experience to undertake and fulfil the key areas for this post, across the 4 pillars of practice
