Job Summary
Are you passionate about Learning Disability and Neurodiversity? Could you work as a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist within our new service providing a 10-bed regional inpatient unit for people with learning disabilities and/or autism with treatable mental health needs? Do you want to work in an organization committed to meeting your needs and those of patients?
We seek a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and innovative Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join our team, working alongside a Professional Lead, an Advanced SLT, and an SLT Assistant Practitioner, with strong links to community teams. You will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team, helping shape and develop high-quality care and support the transition to our state-of-the-art new unit designed with clinicians and service users.

The role involves assessing speech, language, and communication needs, including eating, drinking, and swallowing assessments, and implementing evidence-based interventions in collaboration with individuals.

The main purpose is to improve outcomes for adults with learning disabilities and autism through assessments, interventions, consultation, and collaboration with local health and social providers. The role includes professional supervision and adherence to guidelines by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Essential qualifications include a recognized SLT qualification, HCPC registration, and evidence of CPD. Desirable qualifications include postgraduate dysphagia training. Experience should include working with adults with learning disabilities/autism and in multidisciplinary teams. Supervisory experience is desirable.
This role requires a DBS check, UK registration, and eligibility to work in the UK with sponsorship if needed. Applications from all community sections are encouraged, with flexible and part-time working supported.
