Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist (Early Intervention)

Salary: £57,954 to £65,432 per annum
Grade:Soulbury B Scale 2- 5 plus SPA £59 846 - £65 929 (Plus SPA up to £69 957)
Contract:Permanent Hours:37 per week (Job shares would be considered) Location: Harrogate, North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire Council is seeking two Specialist Senior Educational Psychologists Early Intervention to lead the development and delivery of inclusive, evidence-based psychological services in the areas of SEMH and Communication and Interaction.

About the Service

Our service has grown significantly in the last two years and given us the opportunity to work creatively, and systemically, across a number of agendas including working in the Best Start in Life strategy, with military families, within the PINS project, around children missing education (EBSA) and transition work.

We have dedicated service development time and CPD aligned with our vision of practice. Our vision, is to develop a creative educational psychology offer, underpinned by consultation, empowering others, and sustainability.

About the roles

Alongside our SSEPs for the Virtual School and for Early Years, you will be responsible for developing and leading early intervention offers as part of the ‘Experts At Hand’ approach.

These are pivotal roles within our service, developing early intervention offers

We are looking for EPs who:

  • Work collaboratively as part of a creative team and can influence both strategy and practice in these areas.
  • Are values-based practitioners who prioritise the voice of children and young people.
  • Will develop and lead evidence-based projects focused on early intervention within their area of specialism, linking with key partners across the system.
  • Will contribute to service planning, support the development of our service approach and individual practice, including through supervision and workforce development.
  • Place psychology at the heart of reforms and strategic transformation, fostering collaboration and integrated working across agencies.

Applications are welcomed from candidates who have a master’s or doctorate level qualification in Educational Psychology and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, HCPC.

You should be creative and forward thinking with the knowledge, skills, enthusiasm, and willingness to use psychological frameworks to facilitate positive change.

It is an exciting time in Children and Young Peoples Services in North Yorkshire as we plan our approach in respect of the Families First Partnership Programme and how we will be responding to the social care reforms. Work is underway to plan our approach and implementations for 2027. As a result of this, some realignment may happen with job roles in the future, we want to be transparent about this in respect of this role.

Enhanced Level DBS Disclosure is a required for appointment to this post.
