Job summary

Vision for Education is recruiting a compassionate Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in the Cheltenham area. The role focuses on supporting pupils with complex needs, autism, communication difficulties and sensory needs, often on a 1:1 basis or within a classroom team.

You will work closely with teachers to follow individual learning plans, support communication, social development and emotional regulation, and help pupils build independence and life skills in a

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND is desirable.
• Enhanced DBS, or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated support to pupils with complex and additional needs.
• Working closely with teachers and specialist support staff to follow individual learning plans.
• Supporting communication, social development and emotional regulation.
• Helping pupils develop independence and life skills.
• Assisting with personal care where required.
• Supporting pupils who may display challenging or distressed behaviours.
• Using a calm and consistent approach when responding to individual needs.
• Helping deliver sensory, communication and practical learning activities.
• Encouraging pupils to participate in lessons and school activities.
• Creating a safe, positive and inclusive classroom environment.
