Job Title: Specialist SEN Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £100 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are on the lookout for a Specialist SEN Primary Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive school setting in Chesterfield. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional who is not only passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) but also has the flexibility to drive – a must for this role due to off-site learning and transport needs.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Support pupils with a variety of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and learning or communication difficulties.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions tailored to individual education plans.
  • Assist class teachers in planning and delivering inclusive lessons.
  • Support students’ social and emotional development through positive reinforcement and patience.
  • Help with personal care where necessary, promoting independence and dignity.
  • Use your driving licence to support students in off-site educational and life-skills activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly within a primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of a range of SEN, such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social-emotional needs.
  • Ability to provide both one-to-one and group support, adapting strategies to individual learning styles and needs.
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting pupils across different learning environments.
  • Willingness to assist with personal care tasks when required.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence, as some travel may be necessary for off-site learning or support.
  • A relevant qualification in education or SEN support (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
