Job summary

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced occupational therapist (Band 5 or Band 6) to join our integrated therapy teams at The Royal Oldham Hospital. You will rotate across general medicine, respiratory medicine, the acute medical unit, colorectal and vascular surgery.

You will assess complex medical conditions, plan discharges, supervise junior staff, and contribute to service development within a busy, integrated care model.

Qualifications

• Band 5 or Band 6 qualified occupational therapist.
• Experience with complex medical conditions and discharge planning.
• Ability to supervise junior staff and students.
• Willingness to rotate across general medicine, respiratory medicine, the acute medical unit, colorectal and vascular surgery.
• Engage in service development and evidence-based practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely assessments, rehabilitation and discharge planning.
• Work within an integrated multidisciplinary team.
• Support and supervise junior staff and students.
• Contribute to innovative service development and CPD.
• Cover seven-day service with some weekend working.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced band 5, or existing band 6, Occupational therapist to join our integrated therapy teams on a , based in the acute setting at The Royal Oldham Hospital.

You will rotate across general medicine , respiratory medicine , the acute medical unit, colorectal and vascular surgery .

You will experience a wide range of complex medical conditions requiring advanced assessment and discharge planning skills, support and supervise junior members of the team and contribute to innovative service development across the department.

You will work closely with our multi-disciplinary team, working within an integrated model of care to provide timely assessments, rehabilitation and support with discharge planning for our patients.

You will gain experience of working in a busy and pro-active environment where evidence based practice is embedded and joint working, service development and CPD is encouraged.

As a band 6 you will receive support from the band 7 team leader and peers. You will be expected to provide supervision to more junior staff and students.

The service operates over seven days and as such some weekend working is required as part of the role.
