Job summary

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an ambitious Occupational Therapist (Band 5/6) to join the orthopaedics and hand therapy teams across Northwick Park and related sites. You will manage your own caseload, assess and treat complex physical and cognitive conditions, and collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues.

The role involves weekend work as part of a seven-day service, opportunities for CPD, and involvement in audits and service development.

Qualifications

• The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner, assisting in the coordination and provision of a specialist occupational therapy service to patients within the acute orthopaedics inpatient and hand therapy outpatient teams.
• Provide assessment and treatment for patients with a wide range of complex physical, sensory, perceptual and cognitive problems, including home environment assessments where required, and treatment of outpatient hand therapy patients.

• Work collaboratively with patients, families, carers and colleagues across health and social care services to support effective service planning, policy implementation and service delivery.
• Deputise for the Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist, representing the department at relevant meetings within and outside the Trust.
• Contribute to departmental meetings, participate in audits, and undertake research and CPD activities within the specialist area.
• Maintain professional and specialist knowledge through appraisal, CPD activities and attendance at relevant specialist courses.
• Plan and deliver specialist education to OTs, other professionals, patients and carers on sensory, perceptual and physical aspects of care.

Are you a confident and motivated Band 5 or an emerging Band 6 Occupational Therapist who would like to develop new clinical and managerial skills within an acute setting in Orthopaedics and Hand therapy?, The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner, assisting in the coordination and provision of a specialist occupational therapy service to patients within the acute orthopaedics inpatient and hand therapy outpatient teams.

Provide assessment and treatment for patients with a wide range of complex physical, sensory, perceptual and cognitive problems, including home environment assessments where required, and treatment of outpatient hand therapy patients.

Manage their own caseload, working alongside the multidisciplinary team and external agencies to deliver specialist treatment plans, including physiotherapy, Social Services and specialist nursing teams.

Work collaboratively with patients, families, carers and colleagues across health and social care services to support effective service planning, policy implementation and service delivery.

Deputise for the Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist, representing the department at relevant meetings within and outside the Trust.

An excellent and exciting opportunity has arisen to work within an innovative and dynamic team of therapists within London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Orthopaedics and Hand therapy service.

The post holder will predominantly be working across rotations in Orthopaedics (inpatient wards) and Hand therapy (outpatients) at Northwick Park Hospital.

The Therapy Department holds a high profile within the Trust and you will be encouraged to develop your clinical, teaching and managerial skills according to the area of work setting and CPD guidelines. Support and supervision will be provided by experienced occupational therapists. Our multidisciplinary Therapies department is committed to development and offers a large range of in-service and external training to suit individual's needs. There are new and exciting projects continually being undertaken which you will be given the opportunity to partake in.

We run a seven day service and you will be expected to work one in 5 to 6 weekends, which is followed by rest days.
