Job description

Midlothian Council is inviting applications from candidates with specialist plant experience to support the delivery of various projects utilizing our extensive fleet, which has seen recent investments to ensure the provision of quality services to our communities.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants should have experience and relevant qualifications in some of the following areas. We are committed to staff development and will provide training to gain skills on additional plant items. The list below is not exhaustive, as we are continuously exploring new project delivery methods:

1. Paver
2. Planer
3. 180/360/Pothole Pro
4. Mechanical chipper
5. C+E low loader
6. Gully vehicle
7. Screed truck

Knowledge and Qualifications

Applicants must hold:

• SVQ Level 3 in Civil Engineering Technologies/Highways Maintenance or an equivalent qualification, or a relevant HNC qualification
• Extensive post-qualification experience in the road maintenance industry, particularly in operating specialist plant
• Full clean HGV Class C driving licence
• SVQ Level 2 module in winter maintenance

Hours: 36 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday - Thursday 07:30-15:45, Friday 07:30-12:30

Weeks per Year: 52

Note: Successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale. The minimum salary based on 36 hours/week over 52 weeks is £30,243.53 per annum.
