NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Specialist Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Orthopaedic Trauma Centre (UHW). The role includes a rolling rota with one Saturday every four weeks and options for extra shifts to cover leave and sickness.

You will contribute to service development, support quality improvement projects, and work closely with a supportive team to deliver high‑quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Registered Physiotherapist with HCPC Registration.
  • Educated to Degree Level or higher.
  • Postgraduate expertise in orthopaedic physiotherapy.
  • Full UK/EU/EEA driving licence required.

Responsibilities

  • Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work including direct and indirect patient care.
  • Delegate appropriate tasks and supervise more junior staff to maximise efficiency and ensure best practice.
  • Actively develop, implement and participate in department in-service training programmes to promote development of staff.
  • Assess capacity and obtain valid consent for patients who lack capacity within the legal framework.

The Role

Looking for a highly motivated and proactive individual to join the Orthopaedic Trauma Centre within NHS Lanarkshire (UHW) as a Specialist band 6 Physiotherapist. The successful candidate will be contracted to work one Saturday every four weeks as part of a rolling rota, with additional opportunities to undertake extra shifts to provide cover for annual leave and sickness absence.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within a dynamic and supportive team while contributing to the ongoing development of Orthopaedic trauma services.

The role offers the opportunity to play a key part in the Senior day-to-day running of the unit, contribute to service development initiatives, and support ongoing quality improvement projects. Excellent teamwork skills, enthusiasm, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care are essential.

In This Key Role, You Will
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work including direct and indirect patient care
  • Delegate appropriate tasks and supervise more junior staff (as per organisational chart) to maximise efficiency and ensure the delivery of best practice this would include day to day allocation and reallocation of staff and tasks to meet ever changing service demands.
  • Actively develop, implement and participate in Physiotherapy Department and specialty team in-service training programme to promote own personal development and that of staff
  • To assess capacity gain valid consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent.
What You'll Bring
  • Registered Physiotherapist with valid HCPC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
  • A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
