Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced physiotherapist to join the Musculoskeletal rotation, developing specialist knowledge across outpatients, trauma and orthopaedics, and hand therapy. You will train, supervise and support junior staff and students while delivering high‑quality care across acute services.

The role offers opportunities for development from Band 5 to Band 6 criteria within 6–9 months and entails involvement in respiratory

• Train, supervise and monitor other physiotherapists and students on placement, with appropriate support.
• Provide clinical leadership within the specialties including educational, professional and managerial guidance.

Job description

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced physiotherapist to join our Musculoskeletal rotation developing specialist knowledge, skills and experience in musculoskeletal outpatients; inpatient trauma and orthopaedics; in and outpatient plastic and reconstructive surgery and hand therapy.

The post will suit individuals who have worked in an acute setting, completed their core rotations (on a Band 5 Physiotherapist rotation programme, or equivalent) or who already have experience at Band 6 and are looking to develop specialist skills in these acute services. For candidates who lack specific experience in one aspect required, we are able to offer a development opportunity appointing at B5 and providing support + training to meet B6 criteria within 6-9 months. In this post, you will be required to support our respiratory on-call and weekend services across trauma & orthopaedics and respiratory care.

You will work with and learn from staff who are experts in their field and will have the opportunity to develop both your clinical and leadership skills working with junior staff, physiotherapy support workers and students.

You will receive supervision and annual appraisal and take an active role within your own personal development.

To assess, prioritise and manage own caseload of in and outpatients determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated, and maintain records as a legally autonomous practitioner. Patient presentation may be complex/highly complex.

To train, supervise and monitor other physiotherapists, therapy assistant practitioners, assistants and students on placement, with appropriate support.

To provide clinical leadership within the specialties including educational, professional and managerial guidance.

To have an active role in the planning, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the physiotherapy service provided to patients within and outreaching from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

To deputise for the Physiotherapy Operational Lead/ Senior Physiotherapy staff as required.
