Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is advertising a full-time Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist to join the Cardiothoracic Physiotherapy Team at the Freeman Hospital. The role focuses on thoracic and cardiac surgery patients, solid organ transplantation, and cardiothoracic ICU care.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within acute surgical and critical care environments.
• Existing cardiothoracic physiotherapy experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high standard of physiotherapy care (assessment, treatment and advice) to a complex patient group in specialty.
• Participate in the Senior Physiotherapy general rotational scheme, across the Trust in a range of clinical settings, including regional specialities.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of a range of medical conditions and their impact on patients' functional abilities.
• Show sound knowledge of the physiotherapy process and ability to undertake research and audit projects.
• Be aware of current NHS issues e.g. NSF's Improving Working Lives.
• Exhibit excellent organisation and time management skills, work as part of a team, and support personal and service development.
• Present information clearly and orally, and demonstrate IT and presentation skills.
• Utilise specialist treatment skills such as manual therapy.
• Have NHS experience in a rotational post providing a broad range of experience across physiotherapy core areas.
• Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Evidence prior experience in a senior post.

We are delighted to advertise a full time, static Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist to work as part of the Cardiothoracic Physiotherapy Team at the Freeman Hospital. The Cardiothoracic Physiotherapy Team provide specialist and dedicated physiotherapy input to patients requiring thoracic and cardiac surgery, solid organ transplantation and patients requiring cardiothoracic intensive care, including advanced mechanical circulatory support.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and service, support with physiotherapy pathway development and integrate into cardiothoracic multi-professional teams. The successful candidate will be supported by Advanced Physiotherapists in Critical Care, VAD and Transplant and the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist for Cardiothoracic. We welcome applications from enthusiastic, committed physiotherapists with experience of working within acute surgical and critical care environments. Existing cardiothoracic physiotherapy experience is desirable.
