Main Duties of the Job

The Specialist Pharmacist for Cancer and Technical Services will support the Lead Clinical Pharmacist in delivering a clinical pharmacy service to Medical Oncology patients and users of the Technical Services Unit, including:

  • Screening and final checking prescriptions for cytotoxic, clinical trial materials, IV additives, and extemporaneously prepared and over-labeled products.
  • Coordinating and assisting in training for pre-registration and junior pharmacists rotating through Cancer Services.
  • Focusing ward-based clinical activities around delivering a clinical pharmacy service to a Women and Children's specialty.

Job Responsibilities

The post holder will:

  • Work with clinicians in managing Cancer and Haematology patients.
  • Screen chemotherapy prescriptions, including those for clinical trials.
  • Manage outsourced chemotherapy products.
