Job Overview

We are seeking a Specialist Optometrist to work in both specialist clinics and extended roles within ophthalmology. The successful candidate will provide a broad range of highly skilled core and specialised services.

Location and Team

Enjoy working in East Sussex with access to beaches and countryside, just over an hour from London. Join our friendly Optometry Team, which includes 13 optometrists serving Eastbourne District General Hospital, Bexhill Hospital, and Conquest Hospital. We support training and development at all career levels.

Department and Services

Our department is heavily involved with ophthalmology clinics, working closely with consultant ophthalmologists, junior doctors, orthoptists, ophthalmic technicians, nurses, and dispensing opticians. Services include low vision, complex refraction, and medical contact lenses.

Role Responsibilities
  • Conduct specialist clinics (medical contact lenses, refraction, low vision)
  • Participate in extended ophthalmology roles (e.g., AMD, glaucoma, cataract, injections)
  • Flexibility in specific duties based on current needs
Candidate Requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team focus
  • Drive to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Current GOC registration
  • Post-registration optometry qualification and experience
Training and Benefits
