Specialist Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist

Do you want to join an innovative team working in the new 47 million pound Urgent and Emergency care facility on the East Coast?

The Rapid Assessment Therapy Service (RATS) are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and driven individual to join the team. The individual must be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills to support developing the service, to provide high quality, timely therapy assessment and interventions at the front door.

As a Senior Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist you will provide assessment, treatment and management advice for patients within the therapy team covering all front door areas; including prioritising/managing the daily caseload within the team, assessing and delivering therapy interventions, ensuring the highest professional standards of care are maintained, demonstrating adherence to the Trust Values and operating as a leader in the team, service and organisation.

Main duties of the job
  • To be a team member contributing to the delivery of therapy services across the RATS Team, alongside the senior leadership team.
  • To provide specialist advice to therapy staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team and wider team.
  • To use a client-centred approach to patient care.
  • To participate in and provide clinical and management supervision.
  • To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working.
  • To contribute to and lead on service improvement and quality initiatives.
  • To use the Trust electronic patient record system.
  • To contribute to Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments.
  • To abide by all Trust policies and procedures.
  • To be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications & Training
  • HCPC registered Physiotherapist/OT
  • Degree in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy
  • Evidence of post graduate training within specialist area
  • Evidence of theoretical learning relevant to role
Experience & Knowledge Required
  • Experience in a relevant junior role, including the management of a range of acute conditions, with evidence of additional knowledge acquired through formal and informal clinical supervision
  • Evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations
  • Experience in assessment and provision of specialist equipment
  • Able to demonstrate application of theoretical learning relevant to specialist role
  • Delivery of relevant audit/research projects
  • Understanding of current issues in health care Standards of Professional Practice
  • Evidence of post graduate qualification or accreditation within specialist area
  • Experience in the use of outcome measures to evaluate clinical treatment
  • Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area
