Specialist Occupational Therapist for Orthopaedic / Surgical Unit
Are you looking to specialise in Orthopaedics and Surgery? Are you a band 6 looking for a static position in a vibrant and dynamic team? Or an experienced band 5 seeking promotion to band 6? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated department. We are passionate about patient-centred care, support our clinicians to lead and deliver excellent and compassionate services, and value our clinical teams as the heart of the NHS.
As a band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will work within a team comprising three support workers, one junior band 5, and three other band 6 Occupational Therapists, under the guidance of two experienced band 7 Team Leads. The team collaborates closely with the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team and maintains strong relationships with Consultants, Nurses, Physios, Social Care Teams, and Case Managers.
Your role as a valued member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team will include assessing and treating patients, preventing de-conditioning, facilitating timely and effective patient discharge, and managing ongoing referrals to other agencies. You will also supervise band 5s and, when opportunities arise, supervise and educate Occupational Therapy Students on placement.
The post holder assists in developing, administering, and providing a specialist Occupational Therapy service, managing a varied caseload of recently discharged patients. This includes managing complex assessments related to physical conditions, considering the physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, and social aspects of patient care.

Manage your own caseload of patients referred for HOST assessment, rehabilitation, and management within the multidisciplinary team and community settings. Assist in developing, managing, and planning the Occupational Therapy service for this client group.

Salary: £39,205 to £47,084 per annum (pro-rata), including high-cost area supplements (HCAS).
