Specialist Nutrition and Intestinal Failure Pharmacist

Join to apply for the Specialist Nutrition and Intestinal Failure Pharmacist role at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This role is ideal for a pharmacist interested in Nutrition and Intestinal Failure within a nationally designated specialist centre. It offers opportunities to develop clinical knowledge and skills while working with a motivated multidisciplinary team for both inpatients and homecare patients.

Key duties include:

  1. Advising on medicines management for nutrition support patients.
  2. Participating in daily inpatient PN ward rounds across hospital sites (mainly Churchill and John Radcliffe).
  3. Liaising with nursing and medical staff for vascular access device insertion.
  4. Acting as a non-medical prescriber for PN patients.
  5. Supporting nutrition MDT meetings for inpatients and outpatients.
  6. Providing advice on home PN management to the nutrition team, hospital staff, and patients.
  7. Liaising with external providers for homecare PN services.
  8. Reporting and investigating adverse incidents related to nutrition support.
  9. Assisting in financial and commissioning reporting for the intestinal failure service.
  10. Participating in relevant groups such as SHIFNET, BPNG, or others related to PN provision.
  11. Providing teaching on PN to pharmacy, nursing, medical staff, and other healthcare professionals.
