Job summary

Spire Southampton Hospital is recruiting a Registered Nurse to join the Oncology Department on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role is full-time with 8am–6pm shifts, four days per week, supporting patients undergoing cancer treatment and systemic anti-cancer therapy.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, provide compassionate care, perform venepuncture and cannulation, and ensure high standards of patient safety.

Qualifications

• NMC registered with an unrestricted pin.
• 1-2 years’ experience in Oncology/Haematology.
• Competent in venepuncture, phlebotomy and cannulation; CVADs.
• Evidence of SACT competency.
• UK Oncology Nurse Society (UKONS) SACT passport.
• Post-registration study in cancer care (desirable).
• Compassionate and patient advocate.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide exemplary planned care for Oncology Day Chemotherapy Centre.
• Assist in management and organisation of care provision for Oncology patients.
• Deliver care to meet health needs across the cancer treatment pathway.

Chemotherapy Nurse | Oncology Department | Fixed term contract | Southampton | Full-time hours across 4 days

Spire Southampton Hospital have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the Oncology Department on a Full-time Fixed term 12 month contract.

Duties and responsibilities

Working within a highly supportive team you will provide care to patients with all types of conditions in Oncology. You will be provided with full mandatory training in this and will treat your own caseload of patients and make your own decisions as part of a wider team. You will also work alongside the consultants at the hospital providing exemplary care.

• To provide exemplary planned care for patients and assist in the management and organisation of care provision in Oncology Day Chemotherapy Centre. Care of cancer patients receiving Systemic Anti- Cancer Therapy(SACT).
• Assess patients’ health and wellbeing across a complex and changing caseload of cancer patients.
• Assist in the delivery of care to meet individuals’ health and wellbeing needs throughout the cancer treatment pathway.
• Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information related to cancer patient care.

Who we're looking for

• NMC registered - your pin should not have any restrictions or conditions
• Have a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working in an Oncology/Haematology setting.
• Competent in venepuncture, phlebotomy and cannulation and the use of CVADs.
• Evidence of SACT competency.
• UK Oncology Nurse Society (UKONS) SACT passport
• Post registration study in cancer care or equivalent (desirable but not essential).
• Compassionate and patient advocate.
• Excellent communication skills, organised and can showcase excellent patient care.
