We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers with specialist skills to support the RSPB’s Education, Families, and Youth team in developing our work with children and young people through our RSPB Youth Groups (Wildlife Explorers and Phoenix groups). This is a home-based, flexible role requiring around 3-4 hours per week.

What you will be doing

As an RSPB Youth Group Social Media Volunteer, you will help promote our Youth Groups’ events and activities to increase their reach and encourage more children and young people to join, as well as attracting new volunteers. Your responsibilities include:

  1. Leading the development and management of our Facebook account to promote Youth Groups and engage families of children aged 8 to 13 years, including creating and posting engaging content.
  2. Researching current promotion methods and providing recommendations for improvements, including training and upskilling opportunities.
  3. Monitoring and recording work on spreadsheets or internal databases.
  4. Providing consultancy on social media and online promotions.
  5. Supporting the delivery of training and creating guidance to develop team skills in social media use.

What’s In It For You

This role offers an exciting opportunity to use your skills to inspire young people about nature and wildlife, contributing to conservation efforts. You will be supported by the RSPB’s Education, Families, and Youth team, with an induction, relevant training, and ongoing support. You will also learn about the workings of the RSPB and gain experience in an environmental charity, while making new friends through virtual meetings.

Experience Required

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience in promoting ideas, events, or activities online, especially on Facebook.
  • Confidence to create guidance and support training for others.
  • Self-motivation and initiative.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging diverse audiences.
  • IT skills, including managing documents and spreadsheets, especially Microsoft Office.

Access to the internet is required; IT equipment can be provided if needed.
