Job description

Specialist Doctor in Emergency Medicine - NW England

Triple West Medical have been appointed by an NHS Trust based in North West England to help recruit a Specialist Doctor in Emergency Medicine. This post includes a discretionary bonus of 15% of basic salary, every year - up to 4 years (T&Cs apply). The applicant must have MBBS or equivalent medical degree, live current certification in: ALS/ACLS, ATLS/ETC, and APLS/EPLS, Full MRCEM/FRCEM.

The Trust have over 6000 staff offering comprehensive range of acute and community services over a number of sites. You will be supported to reach your individual career goals whilst providing quality emergency care to our semi-rural population. The Emergency Departments at the main site currently sees over 44,000 attendances per year and have a fully accredited Trauma Unit.

Brief Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Initial assessment and management of patients attending the Emergency Department, formulation of treatment plans, and onward referral or discharge of patients.
  2. Clinical involvement in the full spectrum of Emergency Department patients including resuscitation and assessment of seriously injured and ill patients, dealing with complex cases, paediatrics, and minor injuries.
  3. Gain increasing experience and competence in assisting consultants and senior nurses in running the shop floor, ensuring patients are being seen by appropriate staff in a timely fashion and that junior staff are appropriately supervised.
  4. Gain increasing experience and competence in maintaining flow of patients through the department and supporting the national Quality Indicators.
  5. Undertake administrative tasks such as review of X-Ray results and report writing.
  6. Participate in Quality Improvement and governance activities.
  7. Actively attend, participate, and contribute towards teaching sessions with and for the team.
  8. Maintain and develop own skills and learning and undertake annual appraisal.
  9. Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out in Good Medical Practice.
  10. Adhere to Trust Policies and Guidelines.
