Specialist – Compliance Financial Trading

Purpose:

The Specialist - Compliance Financial Trading is responsible for supporting the management of compliance risks and opportunities associated with Anglo American’s marketing business, with a particular focus on supporting the exchange and OTC financial trading activity undertaken by Anglo American Marketing.

Responsibilities include:

Performance & Delivery

  • Implement Anglo American’s Marketing compliance programme, including risk assessment, policy drafting, training and awareness and monitoring and assist with the Group Risk Assessment process.
  • Provide compliance advisory service to Front, Middle and Back Office teams in relation to regulations relevant to a trading business including anti-bribery and corruption, AML/CTF, sanctions, anti-trust and with a particular focus on financial trading regulation including Market Abuse, UK MIFID, RAO, UK EMIR and exchange rules compliance (both within and outside of the UK).
  • Support the KYC process as required by promptly and effectively responding to escalations.
  • Implement monitoring and reporting processes using trader surveillance tools, to enable the prevention and detection of Market Abuse, and the detection and reporting of suspicious orders or transactions, amongst other risks.
  • Manage client relationships to deliver high quality/timely advice. Where required, participate in briefings of management and other stakeholders.
  • Support to build robust compliance culture in the office.
  • Monitor the external regulatory environment for changes that impact Marketing, and update the compliance framework and/or devise implementation plans for Marketing.
  • Assist Group Policy Owners to tailor training materials for Marketing, ensuring training is provided in accordance with the risk profile of the team. Deliver training to relevant stakeholders as required by Group or Marketing compliance programmes.
  • Provision of weekly/monthly/ quarterly reporting on surveillance, training completion, GEH/ COI submissions and other Compliance issues/declarations, including trend analysis and horizon scanning to proactively identify emerging risks.
  • Other support to the compliance and risk teams as required to provide effective operational compliance oversight and monitoring.
Qualifications :
  • University degree in relevant field, such as Law, Accounting or Economics

Knowledge:

  • 5 years min experience in compliance, with a proven track record of supporting financial trading activity
  • Experience of compliance/ risk management in a trading environment
  • Substantial experience in Trade Surveillance
  • Knowledge of laws and effective risk mitigation in areas including financial crime, sanctions, and anti-trust.
  • Experience of working with detailed legal/ policy documentation relating to UK/ EU/ International Regulations
  • Experience within a complex organisation across different countries and jurisdictions, cultures, interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
