Job summary

NurtureCare Limited is recruiting a Specialist Community School Nurse to support children with complex health needs in Derby City and Derbyshire. The role fits school hours during term time, with a focus on child-centered, collaborative care within a community setting.

You will deliver nursing care, support school staff, and help develop IHCPs while building strong relationships with pupils and families. This is a rewarding role with a focus on safeguarding and multidisciplinary planning.

Qualifications

• NMC Registered Nurse (Child Branch or LD preferred).
• Experience working with CYP in schools, community or paediatric settings.
• Confident in clinical practice and calm under pressure.
• Strong communication, teamwork and safeguarding awareness.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on nursing care for children and young people with complex health needs.
• Support and supervise school staff in delivering delegated health procedures.
• Build trusted relationships with pupils, families and school teams.
• Contribute to the development and review of IHCPs.

What You'll Do

• Deliver hands-on nursing care for children and young people with complex health needs (e.g. epilepsy, enteral feeding, tracheostomy care).
• Support and supervise school staff in delivering delegated health procedures, using the TEACH competency framework.
• Build trusted relationships with pupils, families, and school teams.
• Contribute to the development and review of Individual Healthcare Plans (IHCPs).
• Escalate health or safeguarding concerns and participate in multi-agency planning.
